The First Step

The definition of forward motion is the act of moving forward toward a goal

We all hate to wait

Our goal should be to experience forward motion in our relationship with Jesus.

Two truths about moving forward in our relationship with Jesus:

1. Forward motion with Jesus begins with just one step

  • Matthew 4:18-20
  • The first step to begin a relationship with Jesus is to accept God’s grace through faith.
  • As a follower of Jesus, we should change our behaviors to now include bible reading, sharing the gospel, attending church and praying.
  • Romans 6:3-4
  • Mark 8:34-35

2. Forward motion with Jesus requires small steps over time

  • Matthew 14:27-31
  • Walking with Jesus is a work in progress.
  • Justification is being declared not guilty; declared righteous.
  • Sanctification is the process of holiness.   Galatians 5:16
  • When you walk with God, He will change you to be more like Him.
